Step-in on 14-hours notice with the Hungarian National Philharmonic

31/12/2017

Gergely has stepped in on a half-day notice to conduct Tchaikovsky’s complete Nutcracker (with original metronome markings by the composer) with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, replacing their indisposed music director, Zsolt Hamar.

The award-winning production, featuring life-sized giant puppets, operated by the world-renowned artists of the Budapest Puppet Theatre, was initiated and annually conducted by the orchestra’s recently deceased Music Director, the late Zoltán Kocsis.

Two sold-out performances took place on the same day, the 27th of December, 2017 at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall in Budapest.
